This Service is operated by a private individual, not a company. It is provided as a community project on a voluntary, non-commercial basis, funded by voluntary donations.
idroot.org provides verified AT Protocol handles in the format @username.idroot.org to users who have successfully completed identity verification.
The Service works as follows:
The Service specifically: verifies user identity via Didit; provisions a DNS TXT record linking your username to your AT Protocol DID; creates and maintains a user account for handle management; and confirms handle activation by verifying your AT Protocol profile has been updated.
You must meet the minimum age required by your jurisdiction to enter into a binding agreement and to submit to identity verification. In all cases you must be at least 16 years of age. You must be able to complete identity verification with a valid government-issued photo ID and must not be located in a jurisdiction where use of this Service is prohibited by law.
Upon successful identity verification, your chosen handle is assigned immediately. The DNS TXT record is provisioned without delay. You may activate the handle via dashboard.idroot.org or directly through your AT Protocol client (e.g. Bluesky Settings → Change handle). There is no time-limited reservation window.
You may change your active handle to a different available username at any time through dashboard.idroot.org, subject to availability. You may also release your handle at any time; released handles become available to other verified users.
You agree not to use the Service to impersonate any person, organisation, or brand; register handles that are defamatory, obscene, hateful, or unlawful; circumvent or manipulate the identity verification process; register handles on behalf of third parties without their consent; claim handles in bulk or automated fashion; or violate the laws of Germany or your country of residence.
Each verified identity is entitled to one active handle at a time. Attempting to register multiple handles through repeated or fraudulent verification is prohibited and may result in permanent suspension.
The Service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranty of any kind. The operator does not guarantee continuous or error-free operation, indefinite availability, preservation of handles if the Service is discontinued, or any specific level of DNS uptime. If the Service is to be discontinued, the operator will make reasonable efforts to provide advance notice but is under no legal obligation to do so.
The Service is funded by voluntary donations. Donations confer no rights, entitlements, priority, or guarantees of any kind. A donation does not constitute a contract for services. Donations are non-refundable.
The Service integrates with the following third-party services:
Didit (C/ Nàpols 227, Barcelona, Spain; hello@didit.me) — identity verification. Didit processes your identity document and biometric data as a data processor under a Data Processing Agreement. The operator receives only a pass/fail verification outcome.
Cloudflare, Inc. (101 Townsend St, San Francisco, CA 94107, USA; EU representative: Cloudflare Germany GmbH, Rosental 7, c/o Mindspace, 80331 München, Germany) — DNS, CDN, DDoS protection, and web analytics. All web traffic passes through Cloudflare's network.
IONOS SE (Elgendorfer Straße 57, 56410 Montabaur, Germany; HRB 24498, Amtsgericht Montabaur) — server hosting for the idroot.org backend. User account data and handle records are stored on IONOS-hosted infrastructure.
The operator is not responsible for the availability, conduct, or data practices of these third-party services. Each provider's own terms and privacy policies apply to their respective processing activities.
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, the operator shall not be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of or inability to use the Service, including loss of a handle, loss of followers, or disruption to your AT Protocol identity.
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Federal Republic of Germany. Any disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the competent courts in Germany. EU consumers may also bring proceedings in their country of residence under applicable EU consumer protection law.
The operator may modify these Terms at any time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated date. Continued use of the Service after changes are posted constitutes acceptance.
